at this point i can't picture how this manga manage to pull the main couple's confession and not make it underwhelming

I love to being wrong, but i can't imagine mangaka pull this off.
There are no big obstacle to hold them back, nothing to overcome. 2 party know their feeling for one another so no dense game. They have a bunch of lone night together just two of them. etc. Just for Mitsuki getting chicken out just because. despite them after a talk with Prez too. 2 rival being cool add salt to the injury.

Seems like authors are forced to do this sometimes. I've been reading another manga that had a girl joining just to confess like 4 chapters later and be rejected, and to me it made 0 sense as to why the author even put her in the story at all.
