It's implied to be some kind of psychic effect, kinda like how telepathy works.
And considering we later find out that psychic abilities are very much a real thing in-story, with hiro being a extremely powerful one to boot, it's not hard to imagine.
I surmised as much, my point is that it's just not reasonable for everyone to go "Somehow they can affect our minds, oh well, back to work!"

I'm not sure, won't that be too rushed? Unless they skip and adjust some story arcs around to reach this point...
Depending on how many seasons they expect to make in the future...
If things are good we'll probably get like:
1st volume - 2/3 eps
2nd vol - 3/4eps
3rd&4th vol - 5/6 eps
For a total of 12.
But if they feel like rushing and not giving a fuck about second season (at least until they realize it's extremely popular) they could go
1st vol - 1/2
2nd vol - 2/3
3rd&4th vol - 4
5th vol - 1 (gonna cut this one harder than your typical yandere:worry:)
6th vol - 3.

Still I'm hopeful it's somewhat good, maybe they could prepare for a cour 2 within next the 2 seasons.

The discovery that these beings can somehow project sound into people's heads was ignored. No one even mentions it again.
Breaking the crystal sends out a scream across subspace, that calls in a swarm of crystal lifeforms looking for revenge. They just warp in out of nowhere. Why is it screaming into their minds weird to you?

It's not about whether it's "weird" to me. Everyone on site goes "What was that?!" or "How could this happen in the vaacum of space?!", so it's clearly weird to them. Yet it's never followed up on.

Well, I'd list some things as to why that is:
1. Hiro is not a researcher, he's a mercenary that barely can handle this weird futuristic universe with the help of Elma.
2. To study why this happens they'd need a living crystal, but while they're in presence of a living crystal rhey're usually in grave danger and have no time for studying it since it's so dangerous.
3. Not everything included in the universe has to be explained from start to the end within a single volume. He's just started to explore this universe and he's not stopping any time soon so time will come for that.

Tl;dr/Summary: Their work is literally fighting for survival and the only time they wonder about those things is when they fight. They really have no time to study it and nobody they met knows yet.
Besides Hiro has more pressing gaps in his common knowledge than that.

There's a law against it, because they know that breaking the crystal will call in crystal lifeforms from across the galaxy. It's not just that they hear a noise in the vacuum of space, the noise seems to tear through space, they can feel it, and it resonates with distant crystals. Vast distances.

I know there have been some adaptations that only covered the 1st 1-2 books, like the ones for Inept Villainess and Archdemon's Dilemma. Or would that pacing be too slow for this title?

I'm not saying the MC specifically has to investigate this. He was with a whole detachment of the empire's military. You'd think they'd at least question him about it, given it was him that came up with the whole plan of using the crystal.

I don't think you're actually reading my responses. Messing with singing crystals is said to be illegal, but that's not even remotely what I'm talking about.

The PVs so far have been very much contained within the first 2 volumes. No hint of Mei shown, so they are definitely either hiding details or the pace is going to be slower. Maybe we get to the end of volume 4 in 12/13 episodes, but if they slow down I could see just the first 2 volumes. I doubt we end up with the situation 'Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire' had which had season 1 be volume 1.

it's cause it's not a discovery. singing crystals are known by people in the business.

Tho cause of that, i'd assume most people just don't ever hear it since it's only the singing crystals and mother crystals that produce the scream, so It'll startle anyone at first encounter. and since they're known creatures, most laypeople will just go "that's just how it is" without thinking about the how. hiro won't especially cause he just knows how they behave cause video game logic.

but yea, the topic of the scream isn't mentioned often cause it just doesn't really matter most of the time. hiro just assumes that's what happens when video game to real life, while everyone else focuses on the fact that following the scream, they will have to fight crystals

it's also easy to just assume it's magic of sorts cause not only does it not need a medium to travel, but crystal lifeforms themselves are funky in how they can infect other materials and ghat the scream literally rips spacegime to warp crystals into the vicinity.

Currently fixating on this series that I've caught up to the LNs and currently reading through the Web Novel because the plot progresses a little differently in the LN.

On the manga, they made this interaction with Serena a lot cuter and more emotional (in a way) compared to the LNs. The thing about "jumping into danger" was nice book-ends.

I'm super super excited whenever a series is going to change the protagonist's status quo, and most likely Hiro IS going to get that Gold Star and get a title equivalent to being a noble. Because Hiro is a trouble-magnet and the new status quo is even more trouble.

On the anime, I'm hoping they at least cover until the end of Chris's (the black-haired young noble) arc. Feels like a good place to end it on and leaves it open-ended for "more adventures" as they leave. Unfortunately that means no twin dwarf shenanigans.

I am going to guess Lt Serena plans to impregnate Hiro at the imperial capital. There is no way she is letting him slip away now >.> Teach him to have skills! :p

I believe the reason why it's brushed off is because there is precedence for it in the first place.

You yourself are missing the point that @CountryMage is trying to make, though it would help if they had framed it better.

That point is that this is a known phenomena in the setting of the story. In fact, it is so well known that they have a law about it. That being that it is illegal to screw around with singing crystals because doing so tends to immediately invite other crystal lifeforms to the party to wreak bloody havoc on whoever happens to be there.

Thus, this means the psionic screams are known. The only real difference seems to be the source of the scream. Which, since it is already a known thing, is only being chalked up as, "Huh, so I guess it can happen that way, too." At which point it is simply noted and logged, and then everyone carries on with their day.

They don't even need to question Hiro about it. They saw what happened, and they saw the results of that happening.

Also, looking at it from the Doylist perspective, I can see this as something the author is setting up for a revelation that will come later on, and they want to be a little sneaky about it. Something that might feel like an ass-pull the second it comes out, up until Hiro or someone else goes, "OH! THAT THING THAT HAPPENED BEFORE!"

No, you're not understanding. The crystals can be heard through subspace, all the way wherever these nests are. It isn't traveling through conventional space, the vacuum means nothing. A baby crystal cries and you suddenly have a bunch of crystal lifeforms swarming your location.

Thank you for the translation!

This chapter made me really feel like picking up the LN for some reason. Have not read it before.

I wonder how much content the upcoming anime can adapt, assuming the usual 1 cour of 12 episodes. Will it reach up to/exceed where the manga is now?
No way it would exceed Manga, unless it gets multiple Seasons.

The upcoming Anime, would probably end around LN Vol.4 plot (Manga wise, until Chapter 39 end).
Because Chris's arc is the biggest one with most action in the earlier plot, and also introduces Mei.

Or they would end at the arc prior, aka., until LN Vol.2 plot (Manga wise, until Chapter 21 end).
