He will probably get development later. MC of the author's first manga also was incredibly shy/awkward and became really bold after a certain point of the manga, so I'm assuming something similar will happen in this one.

This manga feels very refreshing ngl. But my qualms with manga based on well.. making manga is that the editors and authors always talk about how an ideal manga should be like and what the readers expect from the author whereas irl, we get the same copy paste shit stuff like loner x gyaru/class beauty stuff everytime and they somehow end up popular. I'm not saying most of these generic manga get popular but many of the popular manga nowadays are just cliche.

To add to your point: it feels like most mangaka look at trends and copy the same setting and character traits. They only difference is the execution and even then, only the more talented ones manage to write around the cliches (as in the tropes still exist but the way you get to them is interesting) or manage to subvert them.
