Regarding the authors note: I dont think an event that ts's everyone would solve most problems. Tho what should exist is for everyone is to have a free choice on what they want their body to be like. Espacily because something like the ts in this story is totally possible to do irl (with the main difference being that it just takes a lot longer than a single night). But pretty much everywhere in the world there are idiots that try to prevent people from being able to get acsess to the required medical care for this.

Which all is just so frustrating because we know that the amount of people that regret gendef affirming care is so much smaller than the amount of people that regret things like tatoos or plastic surgery. And also that giving acsess to gender affirming care does have a huge benefitial effect on the mental health for people that want it
