I guess this is as happy as it could get with how insanely intertwined Ai and Kaede were. Still, conjuring a tulpa of your ex is quite something.

I'm surprised Kaede is stable enough to function, but I guess her delusion is holding her together for the time being.

Even when the worst parts of the past seem like they haunt you, you can still choose to acknowledge and move on.

I liked this yuri drama. A good adult coming of age story.

Someone else equated Kaede with a scar and I think that's very appropriate. There is no love there for Ai but a scar fades without ever fully disappearing. That's a very mature conclusion and her being able to calmly accept the scar shows her power over it and how little it affects her anymore. Very sweet ending for Ai and Kon. They went through a lot but chose each other.

Honestly I really like this ending.

In a lotta trauma related stories, characters are written in a way where by the end they have completely overcome their issues, which in my experience is not at all how things go. I admire the guts it takes to write all three characters to still have lingering issues that they haven't been able to fully leave behind, and are still fighting to resolve every day.

This is such a great ending to what has ended up being one of my all time favorites. This last volume especially has been so compelling and dreadful(in a good way) and cathartic, and I’m really glad the mangaka had the space for this epilogue chapter after the conclusion last chapter.
