That's hyperbole sure, but it is truly hilarious that the author is so committed to having this cycle of drama happen again and again without any kind of external mediation that this is essentially now the pattern of emotional abuse. Mitsuki hits a tension point, blocks off all lines of communication, gets frustrated, lashes out, something happens to cause a moment of reconciliation without any lines of communication being reopened, and then Mitsuki immediately ups the stakes in a way that tries to force Aya to stay in the relationship. It's truly breathtaking to watch it play out.

Even now people have already decide Aya’s going to say yes, there’s going to be no resolution, and everything’s going to work out. And they’re pissed about their own head canon. It’s got to be exhausting.

It isn't head canon that these two have been in a relationship for three-ish years at this point, large chunks of that living together and sharing their lives, but Mitsuki cannot open her mouth to say 'I'm sad about my band breaking up' and instead lashes out at Aya repeatedly and chooses to interpret 'leaning on someone else while a bit drunk' as 'she doesn't love me any more and I have to do something to keep a hold on her even stronger'. That's just the last 15 chapters or so.

I'm sure the author doesn't and didn't intend to write Mitsuki as being emotionally abusive. But the way they stick to constant cycles of drama is making it come off that way, and it's not helped by the fact that chapters are so fast and bounce from one trauma event to the next without really ever filling in the gaps. Maybe in the author's head these two have sat down and worked through their problems after every drama point - but if they have, we haven't gotten to see it.

Person with massive confidence/bullying issues who built their entire identity around their connection to music, who is in a relationship based entirely on a shared love of music (because self confidence says it can’t be anything else) gets into a rut, loses connection to music, falls into depression and believes she has nothing left to offer her partner. Partner thinks “maybe she just needs time” and doesn’t want to push what could be a painful issue. So their relationship gets more and more strained as they both don’t want to face the issue.

The head canon is saying she’s lashing out and being abusive.

Where?

She’s not “sad about her band breaking up” she lacks confidence entirely and she thinks she’s just lost the connection that brought her and Aya together in the first place. She’s scared she’s got nothing to offer Aya so she’s using the physical relationship they’ve built like a crutch and trying to avoid the root problem.

And people saying “they should just talk” as if these character flaws and insecurities weren’t established in the first chapters just makes me wonder what world they’re living in where flawed people make purely rational decisions.
