This entire manga is cliche with bland plot lines. I been telling yall that this manga is decently good, In between Mid and Peak. Overhyped, Overrated

THIS, SO I WASN'T CRAZY. I don't really get the hype/popularity this series got on Twitter. I'm not saying it's trash, it's just mid. TonaNeko and Tonari no Kurokawa manga is a tier above in the romance/art but this is somehow slightly better rated, I do not get it.

Is it just me or has Kurose’s design changed slightly? Since the start of the band arc, I feel like he’s looked a little more mature and grown up? Also, Haimiya looks as cool as ever too

I think author's is trying to make both of them go through this trauma solving together so then later he can make Kurose look apt to help Haimiya with hers, since we still don't know why exactly she was skipping school.

I don't have a problem with clichés, but they need to be well executed, and I'm with other people that felt this tone shift was not built up too well. Trauma triggers can cause quick and extreme reactions, but since we are following a narrative it feels too unwarranted.

Setting up for Haimiya's backstory is the most plausible reason I've seen put out there for why this was done, since that's been teased since the beginning.

That's my problem with how this has been laid. He went straight to help the band where there should have been signals that something wasn't right. Unless the author puts us on Kurose's perspective in the moment he decided to help the band and let's us see what his reasoning was to join, I can't believe someone would go help a bunch of strangers with their music stuff when his trauma is related to that. And as much he wanted to look cool to Haimiya, no, I don't believe someone who went through that would even consider showing off to her crush a valid reason to risk a trigger.

Agreed, for example author could have used much better the insistent classmate to show Kurose constantly refusing her advances to make him join until he got triggered, then isolated and at last Haimiya going to help him, would have made much more sense.

Or at least author could have used the one character that was so against him joining from the beggining to trigger that. Well, many ways to do it better, let's see how author progresses this

But yeah, the tragic backstory could have been brough up better, it really happened abruptly.

As others said, the change in tone felt too sudden, but I hope the conclusion of this arc will be handled better.

Pretty cliche backstory, I could count on my fingers and toes the number of manga that have used this same trope to explain childhood trauma.

Unfortunately, stuff like this tends to become "cliche" or otherwise pop up frequently for a very simple reason.

It happens often enough that at least some readers can relate, either first- or second-hand.

Im wondering if mc has a dad? This is one of the times where having one could have helped him against the mom and to be an emotional anchor for mc. Also, where's the fmc? At this point make this girl the gf, she's the one actively trying to fix mc. Lmao
