They both got kicked out for being weak, now they have each other. Good sht
There’s a reason they call this series, the weakest tamers journey to pick up trash. Her Allies are literally trash, seen as useless and thrown away. Yet she finds treasure in them, much like she finds useful stuff in every dumpster she visits

I hope this isn't another "i thought i was the weakest but i was the strongest all along" trope and it was just because the Adandara wanted to be tamed for gratitude or something like that instead.
I’ve read a bit ahead and it’s heavily hinted that
you don’t actually need the taming skill to tame monsters. The taming skill is basically enslaving a monster by overpowering it with your magic, but you can also just form a contract with a Monster by making it accept you as it’s partner

So that's another reason why they give up on finding Slave Body Guard for Ivy, likeliness of even "legal" Slave Traders to have hand with Organization, if the elder son of one is with them, there's none 0 chance his family is in on it.
And also Ivy got better Bodyguard now...
Also Sora... Ciel... sound familiar, like there're also similar casts with those names, in similar situation, in different manga

Both translate to sky. Sora in Japanese and Ciel in French

My guess is that the Star system defines strict limits to your power.
Ivy is starless, so she gets zero help from the system to use her Tamer skill.

She also forms bonds with Ciel by interacting with it rather than forcing it to obey like a normal Tamer.
This somehow leads to Ciel accepting the tamer crest despite it usually being impossible for a high-level monster to be tamed?
And Ciel can turn the crest on and off at will? Hmmmm... :thonk:

the theme so far from my perspective at least is that she really got no real power, she instead needs to gain the trust or build a bond with the creatures she tames. she can't just subjugate them with raw power
Was just thinking that. Considering tamers in other titles as well, maybe her familiars are what actually raise her strengths and stats. She may have started out with very little, but sharing power with her familiars may eventually give her a boost.

OR she's technically weak, but Sora is strong, and she shares the strength of the creatures she tames.
I don't know if you've realized, but that would be basically yet another "I thought i was the weakest but i was actually the strongest all along" trope, or in other words a distinction without a difference.

So far in the manga she was really REALLY weak, as in the only reason she's survived so long was the knowledge she got from the fortune teller and a fair share of luck, that worked to raise the stakes and create tension whenever any threat appeared, and made the payoff for surviving each ordeal worthwhile.

Now, assuming it is really the case that she shares the strength of the creatures she tames, and that happens with all the works that have the "i thought i was the weakest but i was the strongest all along" trope, the stakes will become much lower, each ordeal she goes through will be quickly solved by her newfound boundless power and it becomes power fantasy number 9999999th, losing a lot of what made the manga special in the first place.

I'm not saying she is strong, she's still weak, I'm saying Sora might be strong. So because she tamed Sora, she can also tame other creatures, although there could be a specific requirement or trick to doing so. Maybe befriending or saving a creature.
