This is absolutely supposed to be a bigger age gap that they totally chickened out on. Don't chicken out, it's a GOOD GENRE

Mom out here like "ara ara~ he already saw the family assets did he...? Well get to making babies!"

Like some kind of dominant gyaru gene inherited from the maternal side. :dogkek:

Wtf is with the conversation about her being a farmer?

"I let you take the agriculture program on the condition you DON'T use the skills you learned there!" ...were you expecting her to become a fuckin rocket scientist from that or something?

Also, they're against it just because it's hard and no other reason? Not really much of an argument.
Son of an Agricultural Science Major checking in. There is a TON of stuff in that field that isn't "just farming".

All sorts of large animal husbandry like cattle farming, dairy and things like chickens fall under this. So does animal processing, crop science etc. Its a big field and muddy boots on the ground is only a portion of it.

Still agreed: Seems silly to let her go into the field knowing she wants to be a farmer, then say don't be a farmer. Like what bruh?

Well this setup smacks of wish fulfilment. Buy this manga, ye tired office workers! There's a farmer for you with huuuuuuuuuge tracts of land! Movin' to the country, gonna cream in her peaches.
Look I don't have a problem with age gap romances, but why does it seem like they always gotta have an older man and a younger woman? Like is it so hard to just have an adult romance with two 28 year olds? Also in this case it's like they want the aesthetic of a huge age gap without actually doing it by making the MC look older than he is.
I think it fits with the set up for the story- He needs to be old enough to be in the workforce and get transferred to the gyaru farm paradise, while she has to be young enough to be arguing about her career direction. He could be a few years younger, 24 or 25. But that's a somewhat arbitrary boundary for the age gap. I don't feel particular about where he falls between 24 and 32.

Regarding how old he looks- I think this is mostly because of the graphic challenges of line art. It's very easy to make manga characters look generic, when the subtle differences in age can only be conveyed by line and shape. You want 60-year-olds, make their cheeks sag and add solid lines for eye bags and crows feet. Want to differentiate between 28 and 20-year olds? A lot of artists just make the 28-year-old man taller/more muscular/have a square jaw, and the 28-year-old women have bigger chests and hips. Here they give our MC some prominent lines under his eyes, but we can interpret that in two ways. Either it's because he's old, or it's because his overwork habits are draining his vitality. I predict that after a few chapters of eating his veggies and getting some sun, his eye lines will become less prominent. Some of his other features (sneakers instead of dress shoes, no tie, shirt collar unbuttoned and waist untucked,) lends him a more casual and youthful appearance.

Looks interesting. I do wish the age gap wasn't from 20 and 28. if it was like 24 and 32 i would be ok with that. The gap is only half the equation, when it is matters a lot.

No wonder the youth is leaving farming in Japan. All the old farts are telling them to. What Japan needs is extensive government backing and support to prop up generational farms so they complain about farms going under and still somehow drive around in $90k pickup trucks.

Many people seem to have a problem with age gaps; I understand if they were decades apart, but eight years does not seem to be a problem at all.

Not to mention that many people look younger or older then their actual age.
Yeah the age gap ain't bad but it's not the concept of the gap or how big it is that's the issue. It's that every series that makes a point to have one uses it to drag out the story without romance progress because of the "I'm too old for her" trope.

I have often wondered why legally adult women interested in a man older than them are suddenly children. That the man is a "predator".
Seems very patronizing to the woman in question.

Well this filled up my trope bingo card very nicely.

Why even bother with this braindead setup? If you are this desperate to draw Big Boobed Blonde Bimbos, just do a doujinshi. Plus you can show some parts of the land you can't plow in an official, published work.

And the age gap? It doesn't matter, he'll act like he's 15 anyway.
