"This might sound rude"I've moved onto reading the raws as this manga is currently up to Chapter 208. This might sound rude, but if you're going to release the chapters in groups, at least spend the time to proofread what you're releasing. As usual, these chapters are filled with grammatical mistakes that are sometimes quite jarring. How hard is it to run your translation through AI to double check your work if you're not a native English speaker?
If you're going to consistently ask for donations, then at least put some effort into proofreading the translations. It's been like this for quite a while, and previously, there have been mistranslations serious enough to affect the story that people pointed out, yet those errors continued for 30+ chapters."This might sound rude"
Yeap, it sounded very rude because it sounded as "You're already being lazy by launching 3 together, you should at least make no mistake so go use AI".
I'm just happy to have someone translating! (and I didn't even notice the grammatical mistakes)
You make sound like asking for donations is a problem. Couldn't you adjust the donation to the translation quality? If you're going to consistently ask for donations, then at least put some effort into proofreading the translations. As for not noticing the grammatical mistakes, that's fine, but it doesn't mean they aren't there or that they don't detract from the reading experience for others. There's a difference between appreciating someone's willingness to translate a manga and overlooking consistently poor work.
And I never suggested that releasing three chapters at once was lazy. My point was that if you're going to release chapters in batches, there's no reason not to take the time to proofread them first.
There's nothing inherently wrong with asking for donations. But when someone consistently solicits financial support for their work, it is not unreasonable to expect some basic quality control. That doesn't mean readers are entitled to professional-grade translations, but asking for donations doesn't make someone's work immune to criticism either. You make sound like asking for donations is a problem. Where did you found raws for 206 207 and 208? Can you please tell me?I've moved onto reading the raws as this manga is currently up to Chapter 208. Is the problem a translation issue or a English grammar issue? Separate from the translation quality, I'm struggling to find any significant issues that affect actual readability. How hard is it to run your translation through AI to double check your work if you're not a native English speaker?
It's on the Kimicomi website (not 208). Just search the Japanese name of the series.Where did you found raws for 206 207 and 208? Can you please tell me?
Both, actually, although my immediate criticism concerns the English grammar and lack of proofreading. Is the problem a translation issue or a English grammar issue? Separate from the translation quality, I'm struggling to find any significant issues that affect actual readability.
