While Yuni continues being PoS, I'm glad that the story acknowledges that Nanase is one as well. Yet again, we also continue to see that Nanase is not able to offer Yuni what she is looking for - her undivided affection - making them coming back together a completely pointless exercise. I still don't know what Nanase was thinking, but my cynical voice is telling me that she just didn't want to give away what she considered to be hers.

I'm curious if Yuni will get roped into some bs by Mashiro, or will she end up being a natural counter to her, in a similar way Fuuko became a "medicine" to her woes.

Tbh she’s right on how she’s more rattled over her friend than her gf. Ngl I think she has feelings for her friend without even realizing it; bet they’ll end up together despite that friend looking a bit craycray too

Oh well I could care less about the side characters/future couple

Nanase be like
Yuni cheat on me - I sleep
Yuki fight with me - real shit

It's funny how she really is taking the fight waaaaay more serious than the cheating lol

Like, she never dropped a single tear for the cheating, she never even looked hurt now that I think about it, she got angry and fought to have Yuni back and life went on but now Yuki fight with her and she's in tears as if world is on the verge of falling apart? Lol

The more the story advances the more it feels like Nanase just likes the idea of having a girlfriend but not the commitment, Yuni is basically treated as an accessory, everything is more important than the girlfriend and Yuni gets attention only when Nanase isn't busy with something more important

NGL it looks like it's winding down/reaching its climax soon. We have the OTPs solidifying, them understanding their own feelings better, the cheating is more exposed, etc. I sense a dozen or so more chapters of drama and then a pretty decent ending where everyone is happy.
Either that or an ending where NOBODY is happy...

Nah, mommy Fuuko will end with Yuni and spoil her into oblivion, they inevitably get into weird kink like baby play

Nanase continues to be oblivious to everything, doesn't realize she did anything wrong and marries a volleyball

Yuki either moves on or again try ruin Nanase relationship with the volleyball by going full ntr protagonist

Mashiro dies in a ditch

Alternative, Yuki somehow ends with Mashiro and they heal each other wounds just like Yuni and Fuuko did to each other, Nanase still marries a volleyball though

Another alternative, Yuki dress like a volleyball and Nanase finally gets into a relationship with her :pepela:

The problem is that Nanase is talking about something that is not about her. Yuni is so self absorbed that she doesn’t give a shit about anything that is not directly about her.
Exactly, Yuni is such a bad girlfriend or even human being that she can't bear the thought that someone can have a life outside of her. At best, it's imaturity and at worst, it's malevolence.

I dunno...in spite of how outrageously melodramatic and toxic the four main characters (plus Mashiro) have been throughout this series to one degree or another, there are actual through-lines that connect between them that also satisfy some of their primary narrative drives. Because ultimately, Nanase ending up with Yuki, and Yuni ending up with Fuuko, makes a fair bit of sense that resolves a lot of current plot obstacles for each of them.

This is my personal read on the characters, but —
Yuni needs a partner who will prioritize her and always put her first, and I would argue she would also extend the same sort of dedication to someone meeting her on that wavelength. She has a strong relationship with her single mother, who was often partly absent due to needing to provide for the two of them. That lead to Yuni feeling attention-starved, which is why she fell in with Fuuko in the first place: Nanase just wouldn't pay attention to her, or enough attention to her at the times when it actually really mattered.
Fuuko needs a similar sort of attachment-oriented bond; she grew up in a very strict household where she could never be herself, repressing her feelings of unrequited love and watching the person she fell for be "taken" from her. She was then captured in Mashiro's web, who twisted those feelings of belonging and intimacy, inverting the desire for affection and affirmation into toxic versions of themselves, while left feeling invisible to those around her. She saw a parallel in Yuni, which lead to her reaching out and spawning the first major narrative upset. Yuni then slowly becomes a potential "better" partner and lover, as she seeks genuine comfort and affection from Fuuko, which is something she is starved of via her family and Mashiro.
They're arguably very codependent when they're together, but there's at least a future for them with the possibility of helping one another grow through those issues, potentially with outside support (Yuni's mom, perhaps). They're still young; 16 years old is a fucked up time to be alive without all of this messy toxicity, but not everyone stays the same in five years' time, assuming an understanding of things needing to change and some applied effort.
I don't know if they'll get a happy ending, per se, sure. Could be a "they walk off into the sunset, but an epilogue shows them separated" or something. But they are a valid endgame option for the other, because they click in the ways that matter to them.

On the other side - Nanase is very extroverted and has things that are important to her, and she does not want to give up time or attention to them if she doesn't have to. She knows what she wants, but that also means her focus is drawn away from everything else—which lead to Yuni's increasing frustration and eventual infidelity and the complete mess that transpired.
Yuki, for her part, is apparently more than fine with "sharing" Nanase with Nanase's interests, because they actually have those in common to some degree. Her overarching desire is to have Nanase for herself, but not in the exact same "look at me and only me" manner that Yuni had. She doesn't crave validation and attention and affirmation, but she does want to be by Nanase's side as much as possible.
A prime example: Yuki would have been fine with the camping trip including the volleyball team; she just wanted to be by Nanase's side the whole time. Yuni was mad the entire time because she thought it would be just her and Nanase, which is what she wanted most from their relationship.
Yuki's very possessive and more than a little manipulative in her own way (a quality she shares with Fuuko, which is why they're mirrors within the narrative as it pertains to the Main Two), but the exact texture of her desire for Nanase's attention is distinct from Yuni, and thus their established relationship and the rapport they share coupled with their interests and ability to engage with them together, means they could end up in a reasonably sound relationship.
And like the other two, there's every chance it couldn't last; if Yuki gets too jealous or insecure, she could fall into a similar pattern as Yuni did. But she's already equipped to weather it better because of the history that she and Nanase share.

Mashiro ....I dunno. For a split second I thought there was something between her and that bespectacle'd sensei from her own high school back in chapter 33 (page 17 in the last panels, in particular), but I think she might be more well-developed plot device for Fuuko and Yuni, than someone who is intended to get their own personal resolution to their story. There's really nothing there for her, that I could see during the big flashback stuff of the previous volume; she's just toxic and manipulative and potentially aromantic (but I'm not putting my name on that whatsoever) but more likely just incapable of love and affection, but there's no impetus to her character like there is for the other four that requires resolution for her own sake. That, and she was introduced/fleshed out so late in comparison that she feels more "conventional antagonist" than anything else, to me (like Final Boss material).

That's all just my thoughts on where this could potentially end up. I don't pretend to know or to even be confident, but there's at least some argument that they could each see an ending that could be read as "happy", or at minimum a definite narrative conclusion that satisfies what each of their characters are seeking and desiring, with the potential that each could end up in a better place than they started.

They're all some varying degree of selfish or self centered. Nanase does seem to at least be developing some level of awareness of how oblivious/myopic she tends to be though. It's worth noting that she immediately blames herself rather than even bring herself to be mad that Yuki called her a bitch.
It's also kind of funny that Nanase tells Yuni that she's not gonna want to hear it, and Yuni insists only to immediately be like "yeah no, I don't want to hear it."
That Yuni is more assertive in her selfishness is going to lead to an interesting confrontation with Mashiro who probably did send the location on purpose. I hope Yuni decks her.

I really don't like them using the evil glasses girl as a cheap cop out.

The story has enough conflict already, no need to introduce a cartoonish evil psychopath as a narrative scapegoat.
I don't see how she's a cop-out or scape goat. She doesn't make any of the other characters suddenly become morally good people. And their relationships aren't suddenly going to become better. She's important to Fuuko's character and explains how she became the way she is.

Yeah, that's the perfect definement for how Nanase treats her relationship with Yuni; An accessory. There to make herself look and feel better.

That became very clear after the whole 'competition' for her between Nanase and Fuuko, where she just treated Yuni like a 'Trophy', flaunt about it to her friends at the after party and didn't even care about it the whole time or after it fled off.
Girl cares more about her own ego more than the people she claims are important to her, so this was a nice wake up call for her I think from both Yuni and Yuki.

Like honestly, so rarely did Nanase actually prioritize Yuni for anything throughout the series.
It was always her own ego, Volleyball or Yuki ironically. Constantly abandoning her for those things, especially in regards to Yuki; attention, public physical intimacy, gifts, apologies and what not.
It was nice when she actually made a real attempt at the end of the camping trip, but it was pretty clear that it was too late to fix the damage both her and Yuni did to their relationship by then.

Now we have an amazing chapter of Yuni actually realizing a lot of that and somewhat confronting Nanase about it, along with trying to sort out her own feelings about everything. Even actually gives a straightforward response to the issue with Yuki; Go talk.

And yet, I still feel like with how often the two end up back together for straight up no actual reason other than "but we're dating", I don't see things progressing well after this still lol. Especially with Mahsiro and Fuuko going through what they've been up to in the background.

The problem is Yuni is in denial about her feelings and would never admit she loves Fuko unless she felt she was gonna lose her. Mind you, they didn't need to make Mashiro so evil. A normal love rival would have done the trick.

The story has enough conflict already, no need to introduce a cartoonish evil psychopath as a narrative scapegoat.

I was reading through the start of the series again, and Fuuko's introductory behavior toward Yuni was actually quite predatory, given how meek and almost servile she appears later once they're fully involved with one another.

As we know how pure she was as a child even while suffering her quiet heartbreak and exclusion from her own family, it would arguably take a rather profane force to twist her into the sort of person who manipulated, blackmailed, and ultimately corrupted Yuni away from Nanase as she did. After all, Yuni's cheating on Nanase happened by degrees, each step a process of her initially trying to buy Fuuko's silence when the latter discovered her venting alt account, and then her being gay, and then that Nanase was her girlfriend, and then that Nanase was neglecting her—all while whispering promises and sweet temptations in Yuni's ear about how Fuuko could give her everything Nanase wouldn't.

There's a clever cruelty and sadistic quality to her at the start that really mirrors what we've since seen in Mashiro. Given Mashiro is the one who effectively made Fuuko that way, her being this vile and objectionable makes a lot of sense, and might even be necessary given the degree of Fuuko's behavior and demeanor.

Mashiro's definitely a lot, for sure—but this is a story of "being a lot" in various ways. And if she's truly meant to be an outright antagonist who has no planned redemption among a cast of toxic and morally questionable individuals, she might require that extent of villainy just to properly stand out against and in opposition to the likes of Yuni et al.

NTRception
According to MY glasses, they're going to have a threesome, so it's all good for me. Competitive yuri where the best girl gets Fuuko back.

My issue with Mashiro is not her inclusion its that shes a hilariously written moustache twirling villain. All that florid, putrid shit that came out of her mouth was actually funny rather than being thought provoking or challenging. Like reading an angry 6th form student try and appear philosophically adept. Which I suppose might have actually been the intention, showing her World view is so childish yet still being so confident in it.

I love my monthly dose of "everyone sucks here".

It's interesting to see Yuni go through the motions of being a good girlfriend, only to agressively backpedal when she's actually having to deal with it. As others have said, she doesn't actually care about anything that's not herself. She wants to be seen, validated, and doted on, and just the idea of her lover caring about something else makes her feel instantly neglected. And with Fuuko happily feeding that for her own agenda, her narcisism only got worse and worse. At this point, she easily thinks of herself as in the right, and makes up plausible justifications to justify her own behaviour to herself. I'd love to see her confronted at some point with just how shitty of a person she really is. Perhaps this little love triangle with the two extra-toxic-with-a-side-of-gay girls might lead to something like that? Mashiro does seem to love destroying people, after all.

As for Nanase... She's trying, but still falling in all the same potholes by assuming she knows what she's doing and what the people around her want. At this point, she seems to really only be holding onto the relationship because of her own pride. With Yuki, I don't think it's as simple as "emotional cheating" as some have put it, but moreso her wanting diferent things from diferent relationships. Obviously that hurts Yuni massively, and Nanase seems incapable of really understanding why. She's a purely reactive person, who does things at her own pace and inside her own little world until something explodes and requires her to actually see beyond herself. Even if she's trying to be better, and realizing her own faults, she still hasn't really confronted the real issue. All she's doing is trying to treat the symptoms while cause continues to fester. Honestly not sure what will come of her.

Anyway, I don't see a happy ending coming out of this. At best, it'll be some kind of semi-toxic happiness. If this was the real world I'd recommend the "everyone in therapy" ending, but since it's fiction, I hope for drama fireworks instead.

I don't fully disagree, but I'd say that's not really a good comparison in the first place imo. There's a world of difference between being sad and feeling remorse for hurting a friend, and feeling anger and shock at being betrayed by someone you like. It's very reasonable for her to cry at the first, and not at the second. They're completely different sets of emotions.

If anything, this just comes across to me as Yuni trying her hardest to make everything Nanase's fault, which in her mind justifies treating her like the bad guy, making light of her feelings, and leaving her alone to go cheat on her.
