Yeah, it was never in doubt. The author is doing a phenomenal job of navigating the overarching ‘drama’ of the series and doing so without the annoying, lazy tropes to accomplish it. Any other series would have dragged this out for an entire volume and have either an unsatisfying resolution or a GRAND resolution that feels contrived and full of tropes. This feels more grounded in reality and much more believable. Bravo to the author, and bravo to the artist. The art has been amazing.

Author is a goddamn Michelin chef. Phenomenal execution here. Dodged the misunderstanding bullet, had the MC actually recognize from the start that it was only his own fears and insecurities at play, and let them actually communicate.
We may finally successfully graduate from "suspiciously friendly classmate who I kinda like hanging out with but might burn me if we get too close" to "genuine friends".
Of course, fears and insecurities related to past traumas rarely fully go away, so it's not like he's automatically just "fixed" now. But now he can feel safer, and feel more open to trusting her. And that's a monumental first step.

Imagine if more manga used the setup for an actual payoff instead of either abandoning the premise to chase tropes, use the premise as an excuse for things to remain stale, or just add more girls when things get "boring".

This was a great chapter, the author handled it splendidly. I was holding my breath for this moment and it was delivered very well.
I like how both characters took control of the situation in a way, I mean it was a mutual push and pull, the story didn't rely on coincidences or some character pushing them together particularly hard I think. We did get some wise words from an older character trope, but I don't think it was what made it all possible.
