I certainly don't like Chita as a character, but it's pretty funny to see all the accusations of zero growth or character development for her specifically when the main character of this manga is a sniveling coward crybaby who pisses his pants if his girlfriend so much as looks at him lmao

There is one interesting couple in this story, and they have had the least amount of screen time lately.

this mangaka really isn't afraid of getting axed

it's hot high school girls doing panty shots and tons of lewd fan service, complete with Chii being the one who can freely grope the two hot girls because their boyfriends have spent 200 chapters trying to learn how to speak to them without fainting.

sex sells, and the author's visual style is interesting enough that there's no chance the reader base would actually throw in the towel on it, because said author just has to put up Toyota & Anjou pressing their tits together in swimsuits in a Twitter art post and sales will triple that week.

She shouldn’t be happy with who she is
It would be less egregious if she wasn't also constantly trying to drag the others back down to her level. Chita's is a narrative sinkhole now, if she reverts to the exact same behavior as before where she's groping Anjou and Toyoda and getting upset when they do stuff with their boyfriends that doesn't involve her.
We spent over a dozen chapters just for Chita to effectively end up where she started, with the caveat of "she's now self-aware of her life's trajectory and has accepted it". If that's how it goes and she is fine with the fact the rest of her social circle is moving forward with their own lives and goals, then that's great.

The moment she starts hanging off of Anjou and trying to get under her shirt and asking them to model in bathing suits for her YT channel when they had plans to study or go out with their partners, Chita becomes completely useless to the story. She'll have shown no growth, she'll have had no forward movement in the overall plot of the story, and I honestly don't know what the author's plan was with her, unless her entire point was for sexual fan service with Anjou because the author wrote themselves into a corner by making Seto allergic to physical intimacy.

I'm convinced most of the hate is a meme at this point since they make a point to comment in the middle of a character arc.
Did they expect the mangaka to just drop it?

The problem with Chita isn’t that she doesn’t like Tokio, not returning his feelings is fine, but she has no growth, she doesn’t want to be treated like a kid but also doesn’t want to grow up. What’s even the endgame for her? Because time is moving forward whether she likes it or not.
at least hope that Tokio does find someone else and never chases after her again, she’s such an awful person and character, hope we never have to see her as the focal character again.

At least the author seems to actually be committing to her being aro/ace. If we had gone through all of this only for her to suddenly go "oh wait, I actually do love you, let's be a couple" it would have been worse. Especially since then they would get date chapters.

Next chapter, we can finally put this torment behind us.

No, she's really will not go out with him. She tells him that even if he starts dating someone else, they'll still be friends forever, and he just goes along with it. Who knew, right? Whatever. At this point, these two shouldn't even be getting this much attention if neither of them is going to show any actual character growth, and I don't even mean the dating part, but they are just in basically the same mindset since the start. All that buildup, all that unnecessary drama, only for this kind of resolution? What a complete nothingburger. Seriously, what was even the point of so many chapters for them?
I almost accidentally commented as if this was ch 234, since I already read it on spanish. Guess the english will have to wait a bit more.

That final panel was genuinely the funniest thing I've ever seen. Completely zero changes in personality

This is the biggest problem. She's like, I know I'm not going to move ahead as fast. But you know for SURE the mangaka isn't going to show her being left behind. Isn't going to show Tokio switching to spending his time with a new girl. Her friends picking their boyfriends over her. It's just gonna go "and the arcs over and they all stayed happy friends."
