1. Oh no it runs in the family
2. Wait, how come a lifelong hitoner can't tell a hito right in front of her?
That was a joke. A few chapters ago, Lili was criticizing her sister for becoming a hitoner. But Lili had never seen a hito before, and when the MC showed up, she thought he was a kemo, and she got all interested in him. Now that she found out he was a hito, she tried to cover it up by saying she had been a hitoner since she was little.

I guess both the post and pre-evolved species co-exist on this planet, like how homo sapiens existed alongside Neanderthals for a period of time.

Difference is - we won that one.
There's a theory that we didn't actually "defeat" the Neanderthals, but rather mixed with them. Around 2% of European DNA comes from Neanderthal ancestry. The idea is that when humans coming from Africa encountered the Neanderthals, they started interbreeding. Over time, Neanderthal DNA gradually faded until everyone became fully human. In other words, it wasn't a war between humans and Neanderthals. It was multiple generations of interbreeding until pure Neanderthals eventually disappeared.

I mean thats still defeating them, the humans bred them out of existence. It was also probably multiple ways, we probably killed tons of them, claimed a ton of their women, also interbred with them peacefully and unintentionally killed a lot of them by out performing them in hunting and gathering. Looking at how humans behave in history at least, we will never know until someone creates a time machine.
