I feel like Skullgirls has the most original characters in anime sphere. Double, arguable. Evil religious figure, but also an alien shapeshifter? Big Band? Ain't no one matching his style, bro. Eliza? Clever twist on Egyptian mythologies. Painwheel? Oooh. I know "experiment victim" type of character are pretty popular, but none of them are as wild as Painwheel.
