I always find the problems realistic(apathetic dad, uncaring sister, mental mother) yet the characters act in such cartoonishly way.

why is everyone so emotionless? I haven't read this manga for long don't know if it's always the case but it's so flat. Not even trying to run away. Japanese people are so complacent though so I don't doubt it does happen.
