I believe the spanish translators just kept her family name phonetic, Monokuro, but given it's written in katakana specifically it felt appropriate to treat it as the english word a japanese audience would presume was being used.

Mochi Au Lait is really good at making designs distinct, I'm always surprised when somebody comments that they can't recognise or remember the characters. Surely that's a good excuse for a reread!
