The manga had potential for some cool exploration regarding several topics, such as whether you can change the future, how history is written by the victors, or even just some nice political intrigue, but most of it is utterly wasted. It turns the MC's enemies into mindless, cackling villain...

This is so contrived and silly. The MC is constantly thinking about what happened in that epic he read in his previous life... and he still fails to consider it when Wilhelm describes his meeting with Lisbeth, exactly the way it was written in the epic! Come the heck on!

I think a good way of approaching the difference is that neither of those were "ordinary" people. No one suspects Bond to be a precog, or Anya to be a mind reader, because life for the everyman is pretty much like ours was a few decades prior. However, the current arc does not feature secret...

This arc feels so bizarre... The manga did have lots of comedy before, but this still seems much more, uh, in-your-face, with puppet-wielding villain teachers.
