I think there were stuff the Author missed including for that to make sense. For example:
- Dad makes his daughter the useless pariah so that... no one in the tribe would suspect her as weapon of the Evil God and demand her killed. (Need of many and all that)
Here, we're expected to infer that it is a secret to the rest of the tribe, and only Dad (maybe mom too) along with his 3 men know it.
Sadly, because axed, no further details to clear it.

I was gonna ask how you can go from this travesty of bad writing to Heavy Knight, but then I checked how many Mangas exist for Nekoko and it all makes sense.

One of the many plagues of Japanese Novel writers: way too many projects and lots of unfinished ones. No wonder the Heavy Knight Manga needs to continue without any more official Novel material.

I'd love to see a series where a similar situation plays out & the MC goes, "oh fr? thanks boss I'll get right on that" & the group dynamic takes an incredibly dark turn lol

This is where I read the webnovel, or at least from 34 to the end. Thank you Yellow Mountain.
It is optimal to continue from ch122 if you want, it is the end of ch20 in the manga. It is also where the manga diverges from the WN.
Feel free to read before that point though. The fluffs there are worth the read.

Since the manga got axed at ch30, a lot of stuff got altered from the WN to leave a hook. Of course, this also meant doing a huge divergance from WN.
Think of the manga as a "what if" from the WN. Reading the WN is worth it on its own, so feel free to do it.
