I will say there is at least some logic to doing that. Clearly, this kid is the enemy leader, and the kid believes that he’s one so he let his guard down and come out with only two people. If this idiot prince was able to take him captive he might have a chance to escape. Alternatively, if he goes out killing this kid that might help his people and he won’t be as mocked at his funeral.
