This arc was unbelievably boring I cant lie. Tons of unnecessary yapping that just holds no real relevance to the main story. I like Kana but I do not care about her personal drama at all. Hopefully we can move on from this

That scumbag Dai is Momo's ex boyfriend, current sex friend and that blonde girl Sakura's current boyfriend. Sakura was previously dating one of Dai's bandmates, then she stole Dai from Momo. Obviously the band went to shit after all that, only Kana and Momo remained. Then they formed the new band with the other two girls.
Now Momo commented to Dai about probably breaking up her band, then the rumor got distorted by Sakura because she doesn't like Momo. And Dai is royally fucked, because Sakura now knows he's still seeing Momo, while Momo didn't know he was still Sakura's boyfriend.

The main Kana storyline I’m interested is the guy at work who has a crush on her. Romcoms are usually better when they stick to that. I see Momo causing problems for Kyo in the future because she’s a hoe and Yamada can be crazy jealous. Niko causing problems is the more interesting storyline and I’m wondering how this interview will go.

No, you aren't. I'm considered even dropping this title. Actually nothing interesting happened for me after the chapters when Kyo and Anna have become the couple.

I think people in the thread are looking at this arc from the wrong perspective.

It's not about the band's development, it's about Kyo feeling inadequate after the way the last volume ended with the agency and learning to mature enough to face his problems.

Kana has spent the entire volume shielding him and keeping him from facing his problems, and now he shows that he's mature enough to deal with them.

The band's problem was a joke like we saw from that reaction panel this chapter. What it really did was give Kyo a reason to move forward and now Yamada will do the same with Niko

In Chapter 158 Momo finds out Kana is job hunting. Momo asks her if she can juggle the band and its upcoming debut while job hunting/having a job, to which Kana replies that if she graduates while unemployed she's gonna feel bad for her parents. Momo reacts badly and says they should just break up (the band) because she thinks Kana isn't taking it seriously, but Kana retorts that Momo's family is rich so she can afford to not have a back up plan, yada yada back and forth.
In Chapter 159 Anna finds out about it from Kyo who tells her that Kana still wants to keep the band going.
In Chapter 161 Sekine complains about Momo being irritable and got told by Momo that Kana is trying to break up the band. At this point the rumors of the band breaking up are spreading (by Momo).
In Chapter 162 Kana starts getting approached by classmates asking her about the band breaking up, and bring up the idea that it was because of a fight over a man. Kana thinks Momo is the one spreading this exaggerated rumor.
In Chapter 163 Kyo runs into Momo and tries to ignore her but gets dragged to karaoke. So he winds up telling Momo that Kana is mad about the rumor over the guy thing and Momo denies being the one to spread that rumor. Momo then decides that someone else must be trying to break up the band because Momo doesn't actually want the band to break up either, she's just doing what landmine girls do best.

In Chapter 164 Sekine asks one of the other band members directly about the rumors, and says she (the band member) was surprised by the rumors too and mentions it was like this in the last band she was in (while also taking a moment to give Momo shit).

In Chapter 165, we get a quick rundown about this previous band and how Kana and Momo ended up joining the current one.

Momo was dating Dai, but was jealous of Sakura, the former vocalist. But Sakura was dating another member of the band, so Momo was barking up the wrong tree...until she wasn't, stuff that isn't elaborated on happens and Sakura started dating Dai. Momo and Sakura do not get along as a result...at all.

However; Momo is still in contact with Dai, and complains to him about Kana after the events of chapter 158. Dai; who is still dating Sakura; naturally tells Sakura about this. As a result, Sakura starts spreading the rumors first brought up in Chapter 162, because she hates Momo and assumes the kind of thing Momo would do anyways .

So at the latter half of 165, Sakura, Momo and Kana are all in a room; and it becomes clear to Momo and Kana that Momo didn't spread the rumor about the band breaking up over a guy, Sakura did. Kana says she still wants to be in the band with Momo, and knows Momo is a wreck (understatement) and apologizes to Momo because she (Kana) thought she was the only one upset over this. And thus the misunderstanding about the band breaking up ends, while Sakura furiously texts away on her phone likely chewing out Dai for being in contact with his ex girlfriend.

Honestly, the key takeaway I got from all this is that Kyo and Kana are pretty close siblings and that their friend groups are slowly getting intertwined in part because of Kyo and Anna dating.

To put things in perspective, if this entire volume was adapted into an anime, one episode would be the Kyo and Anna overnight date, episode 2 would be the AnnaxNikoxKana Lunch date + overnight phone call + Kyo's interview and episode 3 would be these last two chapters + the next three
