For some reason I didn't see the last update so this was a shock to me. Still need to go back to read that one (and from when they started with the flashback).

Anyway, immediate thoughts: good god is that guy an idiot. Like did he genuinely think that he'd make her happy by first slaughtering people and then having her kill him? That's like the fast track to traumatizing someone. Like great job you just ensured she'll need therapy for the rest of her life (actually probably a psychiatrist). He should've either just kept living with her or made a plan where he FAKES his death and then just kept living her in hiding. Like no no no ancestor (maybe) of the little girl whose name I forgot who clearly goes evil at this moment so I guess this is the backstory for the destroyed house and everything happening the present, he DID go insane. That or he was always insane. That isn't the type of plan anyone with a lick of sense comes up with.

Wait.

His plan...

was...

Killing me or killing you?
Literally. The arc fits that other series tone. Opposite (spoiler) though. MC's lineage... Atreyu Neverlasting isn't a Doomsday, while Arc's at least loosely related to her young kin

As episodes go, though, damn does this planet feed on trauma. It's so much metalhead absurdist Sisyphean pain, so epically self-defeating, that it's hard to believe this planet has any sapients left by present day. I'm cheering for Astra's dream even more now.

On the plus side, if it didn't work out he still got to purge humanity.
But he didn't really even achieve that neither, he just crushed a couple of villages, made himself out to be a villain, and silver eyes witches are still discriminated and hunted

He really just killed himself for nothing

Why are people saying this plan is stupid?

His goal is to erase the discrimination of the silver-eyed race that got so bad they're near extinction from getting hunted all the time.

And how would you go about fixing that? Well making one of the silver-eyed race a savior of humanity will surely work? And guess what, if we look at astra's current time, it DID work.

You could say that he's selfish for putting his own wishes before his wife's. But when his wife got almost killed in front of him (while almost dying himself) for living the most peaceful and unobtrusive life you could imagine, your priorities will change.
