Having read the WN, not to defend Kouki, as during all of this,

he is a self-righteous ass-hat that even sides with god for a bit in the end, He does have a number of redeeming/comical moments in the after stories, WN chapters that are written and set AFTER the main story is over. Such as desperately clinging to Hajime, and dragging him to yet another world, but because a goddess that later ends up in Kouki's harem sees him as free labor and throws him at worlds that need saving.

Blame his grandfather for that. He passed away before he could teach him the lesson about forgiveness and that it isn't possible to save every single person you see despite having strength to do so. Kouki idolize him far too much since he was a child to the point that anything he says are 'justice'.
