Phew, I still remember MCanime and hongfire. Manga has always been complicated to read because of how scattered the groups are and where to find them. A few years ago, I discovered Mangadex, and everything was much more organized. I read hundreds of volumes. Honestly, I would’ve never bought them otherwise, because the series are way too long — who knows where to even find the specific content I want among so many volumes? But with Mangadex, I was able to find organized manga, and by browsing through the volumes, I could filter them out and eventually ended up buying some for my collection — to read when I lose electricity (true story). Without Mangadex, I wouldn't have discovered so many manga, let alone found the specific volumes I wanted for collecting.
Manga has a big problem worldwide: they need exposure to sell, and the world is just too big. Without the visibility that 'community edition' provides, only the same 10 titles would sell, plus maybe 5 good ones from each anime season — the rest would go completely unnoticed.
I use the Neko app, and I’m happy to always have several manga in my library. Now I’ll need to buy a new SD card to store everything — enough for another two years of completed content until 'community edition' gets organized again and a new solution comes out.
Edit: I was checking my notifications and ... the-witch-medea is other fall, but isnt in the list
