It can be both reference and reverence in English because of what you just said, but the meaning given in Japanese (from what I understood) is “this name makes a reference to the saintess…” its not only out of respect but the source its that said Saintess, translation is not wrong but its not right either, so I’ll keep it that way.

Right now I'm just trying to save info for the series I care the most about (because my reading list is like 900 series deep, though a lot of that is probably stuff that hasn't updated in years), and this makes the cut at the moment.
