I think the topic of societal treatment of those who served is one of the larger topics that doesn't get discussed or even mentioned in the modern narrative of women who served in WW2, especially in the Soviet Union, who were one of the few nations to use women as frontline soldiers. A lot of ink is spilled, rightfully so, on the exploits of the women. But there's a gap in the narrative after the war ends and it never gets picked up again.
