The tax is actually pissing me off more than anything else in the series. I’d get it if you are turning around to sell the crystals, but they aren’t making a profit off them. The fact that you do all this work and then have to pay for the crystals to keep them is outrageous. Is this actually a thing, like do farmers have to pay a tax on shit they grow? And I’m not talking associate taxes like land tax, strictly a tax on the product before it’s sold (or personally used).

The crystals are a much needed power source, as well as a potential weapon component, since people can absorb them to start using magic. So they have to regulate them somehow, while still incentivizing people to sell them to the government.

Was gonna say exactly this: they're basically School, Gym, and Magic Points all in one. Makes sense that they would put quite a lot of worth on them, and the taxation would explain how this crazy adventurer seemingly don't make any money until they've ate enough to be so significantly powerful, they could then just sell them for full value.

I just realized... The manga artist is bloody lazy if the way to absorb the mana rocks is literally "they clip through your chest and get magically absorbed into your physical or etheric self".

I wish fast-food manga was slightly less junk, but hey, I'll take by-the-numbers revenge fantasies where I can.

I realise she's saying master as in a type of teacher or whatnot, but with all the slave stuff that shows up in manga I did cringe as a gut reaction.

As for the 45% tax. As taxes on earnings are usually incrimental, it would imply those stones are worth a small fortune.

People seem to be forgetting that in the upper echelons like the MC, achievable within 10 years of starting, you can earn a countries gdp in a month. Yes the tax rate is fucking high.

They also have free healthcare on site and what seems like state of the art equipment for managing the places. It's better the money comes from them than the general public.

It's actually pretty solid in terms of world building.

Spoiler: Receptionist and ex

The receptionist will soon be forced to retire and becoming an adventurer, but that's the best outcome for the villain of this series honestly and she kinda quick on reflecting on it too thanks to her friend(we have already seen her).

The friends weren't able to convince the ex tho. She will be fired from her job and marrying the relocated-as-a-punishment guild staff and, well, she isn't a good stay-at-home wife. To make this short, she will try to be an adventurer, almost assaulted, then get attacked by a rampaging monster.

I think this all happened in the first arc, though we will only learn the outcome of the ex in the second arc.

Good luck on getting a laptop. Might wanna stalk local second hand sites for a good one. Just look out for specs and read beforehand if it will support windows 11 if you're not willing to go custom win 11 or linux. Might wanna look into possible bundles of extra stuff like mouse or something else. Only thing you may not get with it if seller doesn't say beforehand is warranty but if you take good care of it and use backpack or case for laptops (5-20€ for a good used one where I'm from) then no worries.

I was initially surprise about the tax rate. Then I realized that the adventurers didn't "sell" the magic stones. They just "take" them instead. This felt more like the orchard that people pay to enter and picked the fruits. However, this was a government owned properties. So I guess the tax made sense. But it looks prohibitively expensive for newbies. Although we don't know the actual number.

i believe that has to due with dungeon management and the crystals are supposed to be for energy needs... would also means the government technically owns the dungeons and anything that comes from them.... think of the tax more like you are buying them from the government and when you "sell" them to the government that is just pay for the work of gathering them

Note though. Jokes aside. Please make sure to properly file your taxes. If you do have issues regarding your taxes, bring it up to your local representative and make sure to pay attention to the policies that are brought up by your potentially elected representatives or competition and act accordingly.

But seriously, damn that sucks. Sure now they get focused on the system, but we still have not addressed how the hell a SSS rank adventurer somehow manages to be completely anonymous.

While the 45% tax thing is silly in its own right, please consider that alongside the "I make 20 billion yen a month" thing from last chapter and put them together. Even if this tax only applies to magic crystals and nothing else, it is an insane amount of money being thrown around that means absolutely nothing because everyone (including the MC himself) treats the dude like a homeless loser anyways.

It once again highlights how poorly constructed the story is that the MC gets booted from the entire adventuring guild system by some complete nobodies if he's not only been making billions of yen a month, but also making the guild billions of yen every month.

Genuine question about him being "blacklisted" - why is he allowed to just waltz into a dungeon and kill stuff anyways? Like what does being blacklisted even mean at that point? Sure his clan got dissolved, but they're still in the system and con work just fine, right? It's not like he can't make contact with them anyways, is it? It's just weird to have this premise built on being kicked out and isolated, and then turn around and not enforce anything so the MC is only isolated because... he's stupid?

Karen's design isn't anything special but I still find her very cute.

Also, a 45% might be very reasonable depending on how the rest is organised. For example, if adventurers are only taxed on crystals and nothing else, and if part of that 45% is set apart for social contribution, and many other things ... Though I doubt the author put much thought on that subject.

Well, this post make me think have a dungeon manga with focus in economics lol
