I'm just gonna quote myself from the alternate timeline.I call BS! Chicken meat is not so different than other meats that it can't be preserved. Salting, drying, canning,... they all work just fine. And bacon and sausage are not the only preserved pork products.
On another note, KFC is not steamed and then fried, but fried in a specially designed pressure cooker.
