Adults will be like this. Old things will be forgotten, abandoned, or even lost. Just remember to keep it in your memory.

It's better to quit before someone gets seriously hurt. That's the rational thing to do. Even though it might hurt a lot, it would still hurt less than if resentment is all that is left.

Good story.

But it kind of a mix messaging when it came to him asking the question. Like she asking him to wait on her and to forget about her and move on at the same time.

But that just leave the 'what ifs'. Like what if he does wait and she move on. Or he move and she wait. That is just torture to think about. Wondering if the other moved on or not. And if you should move on or not.

Over analyzing, she chose a career in the city over slow life in the countryside. Sequel would play out like a hallmark holiday movie, or else she bcomes just another childless statistic.

That's the point, they broke up out of circumstances rather than the relationship falling apart. They're both still in love with each other and so they're both reluctant about moving on despite having to.

This reminds me of the old relationship saying "They're just not that into you" - This saying is often used to describe why the partner just isn't putting in the effort to keep things going, while others will move mountains to make things work.

The man is willing to wait for her, and told her he'll keep her flame burning (by keeping the ring), but she pushed him away, only to act like he was important to her when no ones around... Well obviously he wasn't THAT important to her, she's just being dramatic for her own self satisfaction.
If this relationship was important, it'd takes precedent over moving for work, or just moving to a new location, or anything else - it's a give and take with each other.

So to me, it seems like an unimportant relationship, that neither side (or perhaps just the girl's side) really fought to keep going, and now they're acting like - at the very end - it was some big important thing to them.
If you were that into them, it would have kept going, but it didn't, because you weren't.

But I'm analysing a fictional relationship written for entertainment, what a waste of time. :dogkek:

Yea I agree with that fully as we are on the same page in that sense. I get what the story is saying and all.

Just saying that is a tortured life and selfish if neither actually sure they can get back together. Just the time and opportunities lost with waiting on uncertainty.

Just need one to tell the other to move on and don't wait. Since that would leave room for one to believe they might see each other again in who knows how many years.
