Dear our lovely readers,
we would like to apologise for the prolonged delay of "The Engagement of the Deceived Saint and the Guardian Dragon" chapter 5. This delay occurred as we were unable to source a quality checker to complete the chapter. Karma Scans takes full responsibility for this delay and will endeavour to maintain consistent uploads for future releases. We hope that you all are understanding, and will enjoy chapter 5 ^^
Thank you~

Both male and female targeted stories like to use this "actually I have a childhood promise to marry, but I don't remember that fact at all" plot.

It's quite the strange reason to marry someone since it essentially means one party (the one that remembers) has been living with an imaginary marriage partner for years while the other party is a complete blank.
It's also very unlikely that the imaginary partner is very alike the actual person after multiple years of teenage changes and life.

But as we all know, a complete blank is just what is expected of an MC... So i guess it fits? Or something.

The main reason for this Trope appearing so much is that a lot of authors just don't want to put in the effort to have characters actually form a deep romantic Bond. That would take too long and would require good writing which a lot of authors don't have. So it's way easier to cheap out and just say they've had a relationship all this time. That way they don't have to write the characters interacting with each other and slowly falling in love. They can just have them be in love from the get-go. It's just that one side needs to remember that they've always loved the other.

I hate how the false King and Princess were just pretty much immediately forgiven for all they did and suffered no real consequences except for losing some of their status.
