Also, rarely Mercenaries form a fleet, since they prefer moving in small groups.

Only few Mercenaries form Clans, which is basically multiple independent Mercenaries working under one banner.

MC could create a Clan, but considering only Female members join MC's group, it might be hard as number of Female Mercenaries are quite low (as it's a vagabond lifestyle which Women don't really prefer unless for specific reasons).

Don't think that character has been introduced in the Light Novel yet, atleast not in the Illustrations until Vol.14, all of which I had uploaded on the Fandom Wiki I am working on for this Series (had to roughly blur one of the illustrations because it created fandom bot deletion issue), along with illustrations of Vol.13 as well though it's missing one as the source I got the illustrations one has censored it so trying to find another source.

Yeah Japan is on Volume 14 (the Plague arc so she should be introduced on Volume 15 assuming Ryuto gonna adapt from the WN still.

I think 3 ships is a fleet. Also, it's not like he can't have an existing fleet follow him around; he doesn't have to own the fleet to command them, right?

Recently read volumes 10 & 11 of the LN, and 10 left me really pissed off. Can any WN reader confirm that Mary dies the horrible death she deserves given all the atrocities she's committed by aiding pirates? (rape, torture, noncon body mod, and murder of 1000s of civilians, terrorism etc)

I know how you feel... and was hoping the LN was gonna fix that, to be honest with you. I think it's the worst writing this series has to offer.

With that said, she doesn't show up again so far, and the original author is now on hiatus to work on other projects (hopefully part of that is making sure the anime doesn't suck).

She wouldn't survive Hiro now, anyway.

given that this series is based off elite dangerous, the equivalent in the game is a Fleet Carrier. however, nothing quite really looks that blocky, the closest fleet carrier variant is the standard Drake Class variant. the design reminds me more of the trade class carriers in no mans sky.

id argue its mostly elite dangerous, but i do see other elements of other space sci-fi. everything ship-to-ship is 100% elite dangerous, from the faction conflicts (ED conflict zones), faction structure (the 'empire' seems to fully line up with the ED universe's empire), ship hardware (universal ship technology = hardpoint system, let alone the blatant ship copy), and bounty system. ill cede the 'mothership' tho
