I've actually got annoyed with Mangaplus in the past because sometimes I would be enjoying an ongoing series then it would just abruptly end. I know those aren't light novel adaptions, but it's a similar experience.

There are many adaptations that merely advertise the LN yes, many series end abruptly (axed) because they don't meet the expectations with sales which also happens with original manga. But to avoid it, better reduce the amount of isekai/generic fantasy/romcom since those are the main genres where that happens. Do a little research before starting series to avoid wasting time.

RENT A GIRLFRIEND GET THIRTY ONE FUCKING VOLUMES
you mean 40?
is that a rhetoric question?
because the answer is obviously sales, isn't it?
whether you like it or not, that manga is still in the top 500 manga sales early this month
(the latest volume that is. But it's gone form the list now. It's already over 2 months from its release date)

Nah, people will always prefer to just read it and then complain later when the title got axed because "it wasn't good enough" in the eyes of the publisher.
