Whew, nearly went full Misery there. And yeah, it seems like something super-werid is going on, but we still don't know if it's supernatural or something more science-y or if it's all just psychological. Our dear corpse might be parasitized by some new kind of infection? That might be what the dead wasps indicate. But this story is very good at keeping us guessing as to the nature of the mystery.

It reads like they're keeping her ill or at least maintaining her bedridden. The kid flipping out when Akane suggests she might get better, Kumakawa glaring at her when she feeds her.

Probably not a stretch to suspect the mystery meat that the caretakers don't partake of...

I was thinking about how in Japan families pretend dead relatives are still alive to be able to receive and keep their benefits and now I wonder if that might have something to do with this story…

Oh already thanks

Interesting Hiroto doesn’t already know sign language, either he wasn’t born deaf or he was never “allowed to learn” maybe (but it’s not like they stopped him from having stuff to write on even if it is scraps)

Wonder if the “blue green skin” is a ref to an irl medical condition

Depends on how uptight the local gov is other than full on shut ins/known recluses who are antisocial you’d think some ppl would double check/do an audit bc I feel like some would care more about someone doing that versus some violent assault/mugging in the city streets

But there is a super natural tag but if anything you’d think it’d be someone from within that one lady’s company versus hiring legit nurses other than offering a suspiciously huge paycheck and like “don’t ask questions” and just being a glorified overpaid housesitter

Blue green skin... if it's as pronounced as she described in the earlier chapter, then no doubt it is the color of a corpse; a marbling of rotting flesh. This, I'm positive because I've seen it far too often.

well, i guess the title is Corpse Care but other than the rest of the nurses being in denial?/insisting, you'd think MC would like, report it to somewhere, they're not completely cut off if they can go to the supermarket unless it's somewhere in the contract/her phone was taken away from her or something to where she couldn't discreetly contact someone

pg 31 last panel
why was hiroto look surprised when kumakawa lashed out? is he pretending to be deaf?
he can prolly sense emotions if not read lips maybe, tho considering
how he reacted and the other nurse recognized the name he prolly knows something

Most deaf people aren't totally deaf. They can either hear some frequencies or very loud noises. But they still considered deaf, specially from a legal stand point

Plus we don't know if he was born deaf or if "something" caused it (as well as kids picking upon emotions easily) , as well as maybe an incident/run in with a nurse in the past if most of the nurses are like "just ignore him" (Which even if they were hired to be Hiwako's caretaker, i assume as a minor they'd be legally responsible if something happened to him unless they think Hiwako takes care of him on the 'rare occasions she gets up' or so XP)

i dont think that's his mama 😭 also, i don't know if it's a thing in japan, but i know sometimes people will be told by shamans to change names after a big personal tragedy, to kind of change their fate or chase away bad luck. i wonder if they changed her name after the last note taker "disappeared"

So... surely the wasp thing is a clue to what's going in yea? Parasite using a body to lay eggs, apparently there's a previous patient who had the same symptom and treatment, a new caretaker who also got worried and paranoid about what's going on. I wonder if perhaps there's a cycle going on here.
