I know I'm reading a JP fantasy isekai but you're telling me they can make fucking 19th century clothes but their glass production is barely taking off??? What kinda bullshit is this??? And that certain nations have fucking sailing ships that have specific tech from way past the middle ages like the 17th century?

Nobody claimed this is supposed to be the middle ages, and civilizations on earth in different parts of the world developed at different paces in different fields. Seems plausible to me.

But glass in some form has existed since fucking antiquity. And in a place full of sand nobody has tried making glass?
IDK it's pretty goofy ngl.

Given said sand is usable in making marbles that's surprising especially if they can melt metal, why hasn't anyone tried making sand.

Smelting sand into some kind of glass is certainly relatively easy compared to working with iron or steel, but fine control over clarity, shape and color is much more technologically complex. It's indeed weird they never tried smelting sand, but it's not that implausible they can't make clear marbles.

its like somehow inventing guns and modern weaponry in a fantasy world but nobody finds it useful until like the modern age to combine with magic to create something stronger for some god awful reason
