Yuuki has male friends, but s/he is clearly disgusted by male libido. Frankly it reminds me of Until I become Me and how the MC has a trauma of believing the gender change was a punishment for bullying girls. Here is it a reverse, Yuuki thinking of the change as punishment for a transgression, in this case being a lesbian.I feel like people here are forgetting the detail that we saw Yuuki’s back full of signs of abuse, they probably have a very good reason to distrust men and not just “feminist hates men”.
Besides the obvious fact that Yuuki has male friends so that assumption doesn’t land no matter what angle you use.
Her mom is right. She's in grief over losing her female body and isn't thinking clearly. Making sure that she actually hates her new body is the sensible thing to do.this is brutal. I do hope that Rinko is able to get on hrt despite her shitty mom
I may be wrong here and fell to a trap by the author.
Mao does know yuuki has the sex change disorder. When mino mentioned that he consulted yuuki because he "had a friend who experienced it", mao knew yuuki lied and she went along with it creating the 4th childhood friend.
She also had the thought "what do you mean childhood friend" because they weren't just that. They dated. I'm assuming yuuki is her ex, the one she mentioned to mino that went bad because all they did was have sex. Its the same chapter that mino had a flashback where mao said she'll support her love on yuuki. Reason to why she called them liars too.
Yeah I have been leaning towards Mao being a lesbian who went out with Yuuki in part because he used to be a girl. The one problem I have with the "Mao and Yuuki still love each other, but Yuuki had too much dysphoria to continue with the relationship" is that when Mao thinks about Rinko's crush on Yuuki in the earlier chapters, she seems to think that her and Yuuki will get together, and she's sad about that.
If the problem was about Yuuki accepting their own sexuality, then shouldn't Mao be doubtful that things will work between Rinko and Yuuki? From that angle, the theory that Mao is a also a lesbian and has liked Rinko this whole time makes more sense to me. She would be aware that Yuuki likes girls, Mao herself also likes girls and had a crush on RInko, and she believes that Rinko likes men, so she believes that she was the problem in her relationship with Yuuki, and therefore believes that Rinko and Yuuki can work, and is sad that her former and current crush would be getting together, leaving her alone.
Not saying that's definitely correct. There could be ways to explain it where Mao and Rinko both like Yuuki for sure, but to me Mao liking Rinko seems to fit a bit nicer right now. We'll see though.
in the same bedman i can't fucking wait for mao and rink bunking up in the same room.
Yeah, let's send her to two different psychologists to prove she's woman enough to be allowed to change back, and then put her on a 2½-year waiting list in order to receive help! Her mom is right. It's not about whether or not she's a girl. It's about the fact that she hasn't put it in the time and effort to see if she can move on from that grief or not. If she can, then she doesn't have to go through hrt.Seriously, though, isn't the fact that she is grieving the fact her body isn't a girl's (anymore) enough of a sign that she's a girl??
If they really wanted to let her settle in her "new" body for a bit, then just give her hormone blockers or something. Don't force her to go through physiological changes she's clearly upset about
Her experience may have pieces that resembles real life trans discourse, but it is still fundamentally a different one. She lost what she did have. Trans people irl mourn what they never actually had to begin with.Yeah, let's send her to two different psychologists to prove she's woman enough to be allowed to change back, and then put her on a 2½-year waiting list in order to receive help!
...And this is what makes me rapidly lose enthusiasm for a manga.Forced drama character.

Because there isn't any way to completely reverse the change she underwent. She will never fully regain what she has lost. Determining whether or not she can live as a man is simply just determining which of 2 options has less downsides for her.Why should she have to move on from that, though. Why can't she just be a girl if that's what feels right for her?
Why does she have to prove that she can't live as a man before being allowed to be a woman (again)?
I had him listed in my notes as Kazusa because of what appears to have been a mistranslation in Ch 1. Thanks for the correction. That first chapter had multiple inconsistencies around names, such as swapping Rinko's family and given names on the very same page.Yuuki is his family name. He changed his given name to Nagisa (Ch. 7). It used to be Asuna.
Wait a minute... Yuuki Asuna...?

I had also pegged the Kazusa -> Nagisa thing as a mistake most likely of the 1st chapter, but for some reason chapter 15 also identifies him as Kazusa instead of NagisaI had him listed in my notes as Kazusa because of what appears to have been a mistranslation in Ch 1. Having them end out the story as nonbinary or gender-fluid could definitely work, but it would need a lot of set-up.man, while everyone here keeps arguing about living as a man/living as a woman i might be the only one here rooting with all i have for a non-binary "fem boy-esque" conclusion. seeing a feminine "boy" who likes to "crossdress" (for the lack of a better term) with a girlfriend as hot and supportive as mao just hits all the right buttons for me.
...just because she might not be 100% succesful, doesn't mean she shouldn't get to try, though?Because there isn't any way to completely reverse the change she underwent.
