There are Celestial Carpenters working there, did they not wonder why he wasn't struck down when he put up the torii, and therefore shouldn't be trying to demolish it?

Edit: for anyone confused, they said that since they are Celestial Carpenters, anyone competing against them in construction will be directly judged by the gods. So, if he committed blasphemy, like they claimed, during a challenge overseen by god he should have been struck by lightning right there.

Good to know lightning's not fatal in this universe, at least.

There's not really any mention of what actually constitutes the start/end of the competition, so it could be that the heavens don't immediately punish a disqualification and only smite the loser once the contest is properly over (which it wasn't yet, as the other team hadn't finished building their temple for "celestial grading" yet, and I doubt it's just a contest of speed)

But also, this series proves that the bad guys never think constantly, so not something worth thinking too hard about either.

Well idiots will be idiots.
"I know how to build a temple and gods do allow me to do that!"
tries to demolish a temple out of spite and gets hit by a lighting
... are they stupid... no.. extremely retarded? and i won't be surprised by the fact the gods might remove their license to build temples because of this madness.

I enjoy VP's suffering because he is a massive asshole who shouldn't be in charge of students. he belongs in a prison with a cellmate called Bubba.

If what Leopin did was blasphemous, shouldn't the celestial carpenters already known that the god would punish him for that, without their intervention, especially since they know so much about the job, the heavenly contest and what-not?

They just had to wait and keep up with their work, and wait for lightining to strike.

It seems that getting a job class here removes completely your brain cells, unless it's for job-related stuff or if you're female.

Specifically how much more absurd?
It's been a while, so I don't remember it great, and it may have just been that these plot points that have been spread out over years now all hit me in ~20 minutes, but everything felt ramped up. The most absurd point is a massive spoiler, but if you're curious
The end of this arc finally sees the principal and his lackey get punished for what they've done, but then they're immediately replaced with some new guy who ignores all the evidence, believes the MC is a fraud and everything starts over. That's when I dropped it.
