Umm the girl who was around MC since chapter 1 is Monaca aka the Saint. They are childhood friends IIRC.

Kotone the miko/shrine maiden he met first time in like chapter 12 in this manga in middle of the forest, made her a bow and when begged for something she could do as thanks he asked her to befriend Monaca cause they both are similar - aka kinda lonely cause "holy" Saint/Miko.

The sword girl was already wary of him angry he made Kotone kneel for him, while Kotone basically seeing him as her master and first ever dude she actually respects/likes - worthy of being treasured by her.
