So, it isn't just kevlar that conveys ballistic protection level IV; that won't get you beyond level IIIa (the second highest as defined by the National Institute of Justice). You need a solid material to break up the bullet, which are usually steel or ceramic inserts.

A ballistic shield gets its perceived invulnerability by being made of layers of ceramic, steel, and fiber-reinforced plastics. In the exact same way that a more traditional shield is made from layers of wood, iron, and cured animal hide.

There's nothing that makes that shield especially able to resist Zol's sword; it's just a tower shield.

I know I said it before but I swear this guy's just allergic to machine pistols/SMGs. (Mini/Micro) UZI, MAC-10 or 11, Vector, hell, a fucking P90. You could work them with your shield just fine and keep the same caliber as your pistol while having higher ROF/mag capacity. Seriously this is SO frustrating. You can afford a minigun, even if a replica (you have any clue how ridiculously expensive those airsoft miniguns are?), you can afford any of these and then some.

I legit wouldn't be surprised if the author is INTENTIONALLY avoiding machine pistols/SMGs because they're so universally useful for most situations. It's not very interesting to write/draw/plan fights if the SAME answer almost every time is 'take out an SMG and go nuts'. So they go more for weapons on the extreme end that are also notable so that he has strengths, weaknesses, and interesting shapes for them to draw/design fights around.

Again, why is the dedicated Range DPS character fighting in close range with a weapon for medium range-long range primary with a side arm?
They are in a building, take off the scope or switch for a weapon more suited for CQC. If he can switch to a shield midfight, it would be also easy for him to grab a close range weapon.

It's honestly crazy how you profess yourself some sort of firearms expert when you can't even get the basic fact that modern shooting has been largely taken over by scopes for both close and medium range use, with classic Red Dots/Holos being a mater of preference or requirements for dedicated NV or CQB builds.

Professional competition shooters and SF guys have been using scopes in close range for almost a decade now.

The first ten seconds of this video show you how easy it is to use the scope he has on that rifle at close ranges.

First off, if you'd stopped for even a second to actually read the whole comment instead of just immediately seeing red the second you saw my username, you'd realize that I was making fun of him for saying rifles were bad at close range, NOT that the scope was an actual hindrance. Second, I never even remotely said that optics were bad for close range, and ESPECIALLY not red dots/holos like you somehow(!?) deluded yourself into thinking I had. Third, that tower's roof's diameter is way smaller than the distance between the guy in your video and the targets he's shooting at, like maybe ten, fifteen yards tops. I'd personally stick to irons or a non-magnified optic at that range but to each their own; in this specific case however his LPVO does seem to bother him, hence the comment.

I'm also not professing myself as anything, I'm just commenting on things this manga does that annoy me based on my experience. If that bothers you, feel free to use the "Ignore" function so you don't have to read it, but I'm not replying to you anymore, on this thread or any subsequent ones. Holy shit dude you literally cannot read. I never said red dots were bad for close range.

YOU SAID "take off the scope for close quarters" and I told you that the scope he has is actually designed for close quarters. I did not say optics. I said "scope" in reply to you saying to "take off the scope."

The irony of you talking about putting words in people's mouths is palpable.
