Far as I know, just a name. There's probably some old etymology for where it originally came from, but the current name's jumped through a few variations over the years so I don't think there's an easy literal translation for it. "Almiraj" is pretty commonly used in other fiction though (for example, the Dragon Quest series called it "Almiraj" in Dragon Quest Monsters though it's typically just "spiked hare", and D&D has an almiraj too).Do you know if that Arabic name has a meaning or is it just a name?
