There seems to be a misunderstanding. I don't know any of you, and I'm not part of your drama. I'm just interested in scanlating something that's popular; that's all. Anyway, I finished translating this chapter in just one day, and if the raws for the next chapter become available online, I will continue to translate this manga. But I have no intention of competing with your group or anything like that.
Isn't that a bit contradictory? You say you have no intention of competing with the group that's already translating it, but at the same time you're planning to keep going as soon as new raws are out. Sounds like competition to me.

Also, I've always wanted to ask a sniper something—and since you mentioned you're only doing it because it's popular, here's my question: why not start from chapter 1?

Even then, being spoiled wouldn't necessarily give her that utterly nonsensical view of love. Wouldn't she see the love her grandfather gave her and take some inspiration from that, think spoiling him is love. Yet somehow it instead somehow it turned into this ridiculous over the top abuse. I need some more backstory because this is nonsense.
oh, sorry - I see where you went wrong.

See - you're ascribing reasonable, real-world behaviors to a deranged antagonistic character in a new subgenre of the Revenge archetype that is "the female childhood friend who's a raging narcissistic thunderc*nt for no reason except that's how the author needed her to be and she abuses and torments the ML until he snaps and leaves her, upon which she falls the pieces because she's insane to the point of being idiotically oblivious to how her actions are actually perceived by the vicitmized protagonist who's on his way toward his wish-fulfillment power fantasy".

With that underlying logic system her behavior makes perfect sense.

I don't know if there's any reasonable explanation, but my best attempt is

She's a spoiled princess of a granddaughter to a very, very rich man who gave her literally every thing she ever asked for from the time of her infancy, and she's never been told "no" and probably had an army of Yes-men and servants who were at her beck and call.

All of that turned her into someone who doesn't understand "normal" relationships, and the ML was contracted to work for/under her in her mansion from his childhood on. So their relationship would already be twisted from the get-go, and he was "tutored/trained" (possibly semi-brainwashed) by the cousin mentioned in the first chapter to become "the perfect partner/attendant" to Pig-chan, and it wasn't until they entered high school that he finally got fed up with it all.

But she likely has no good relationships with anyone, and he was likely promised to her by her grandfather as a husband/thing at some point (just going off how unhinged rich people tend to be about stuff like that IRL), so her "affection" for him has been twisted through all of that into its current super perverse iteration.
I honestly kind of dislike like this, I don't know if it's an actual trend but trope of "childhood friend who is in an abusive relationship with the protagonist". This one moreso than that other one where the protagonist and the childhood friend are seemingly in the same income bracket and were "dating". I think I might just be sick of the entire "I was exiled from the party" trope and things similar to it (like this). I don't really want to see "oh it was a misunderstanding" if you're going to make the story into a harem and there is like...I can see the line; Rua gets increasingly more unhinged until the mc finally puts in the last nail and at that final moment she can be honest; then the mc is like "sorry but it's too late". It could also be that but amicable but regardless I kind of hate it; I'd either prefer themes of reconciliation and no harem combined with toned down, less over the top nonsensical abuse or more realistic abuse but also no harem or at least a single partner at the end.

Like I don't know, I guess I've seen the "abusive girlfriend" to some degree in manhua and manhwa, or more like the "gold digger girlfriend" although they generally aren't the center of the story, and is this something that actually happens in East Asia or is this just some sort of resentful hallucination? At the very least I don't get why there is like zero physical or emotional intimacy in these "abusive childhood friend" relationships otherwise than to push some "Don't be a simp" angle. In this case they aren't straight up dating, but this just isn't how an abusive relationship works. People don't stay in them because they're scared; it also is because they're attached; and there's like...I guess you have the "their family is rich" angle but they do not sell that hard enough, why he would be romantically interested in someone who acts like that in the first place and why he would remain friends with someone who seemingly doesn't even hang out with them? Overall just kind of hate this, hope it isn't too incoherent.

I always found it weird when girls in high school were bragging about their college boyfriend sugar daddies

Bitch you are just dating selling yourself to a pedo, how is that a brag?
They're teenagers in an ecosystem of teenagers that's built on the a social zero-sum game of perceived popularity and the race to adulthood.

Anything that makes you seem more mature than your peers, however problematic and dangerous, is sought after as a means of promoting your value and superiority toward the top of the popularity caste system of the student body.

Ah I see I'm not the only one who noticed. Yeah this is just kind of nonsense.

My thoughts exactly, what I don't understand is why go thru all that trouble? Did the lie start with her having a bf or her being a maid?

She would have more right to flex if she told them that she earned that purse with her own hard work, Kazuma would've probably gained a bit of respect for her in that moment
the school they go to is full of rich privileged kids - the kind for whom "working for your stuff" would be looked down upon and as something to be made fun of.

She's pretending to have a rich college boyfriend because it makes her seem mature in the eyes of her peers, which is what matters most in that sort of setting to people in that age group--especially spoiled rich kids high on their trust funds and monthly ski trips.

Saying she worked for her stuff is saying she's Working Class, and that'd turn her into a pariah among her peer group almost immediately in that sort of social context.

awful phrasing. instead of "those who work hard", not being abusive might have been the better statement. something along the lines of human decency.
his ex has been working very hard to bring him down. thats not an accomplishment to acknowledge.
anyway, moving on...

welcome to the genre. It's relatively new with only a few titles along this specific premise, but it's just the latest iteration of the "kicked out of my adventuring party but I'm actually stupid OP" as it can ostensibly take place in "the mundane world" and is less power fantasy than it is more grounded wish-fulfillment & revenge porn (sans porn (usually)).

Enjoy your stay ~

We have gone from a childhood friend being a dream to being a nightmare...I feel like this says some concerning things about society

The light novel or is it the web novel (?) Goes to some really outlandish places. I am hoping the manga changes things up a bit but who knows with characters that are cartoonishly evil lol
