HIt's 100% stylistic, he's drawn like a child because he kinda acts like one, being innocent and all that.
One main point people kinda forget is that Iruma doesn't have an evil cycle since he's not a demon.
His "Evil Cycle" is just Ali casting a spell on him to make him less inhibited and more confident.

What we're seeing here is probably just Iruma on a controlled state of rage.
We saw a few chapters back that even Ali seemed worried when Iruma got pissed, so she most definitely didn't cast a spell on him this time. He's just mad and locked in.

I don't think he catched him up, it was more like Iruma went ahead of him because he knew what was Malius's possible escape routes.

How this evil cycle Iruma happened.
1. He somehow separated from the group, asked Ali to get changed and got here. (Like with Irumi-chan that one time)
2. He got changed on his own surprising Ali and himself. Probably leading to revealing Iruma being half-demon.
3. Iruma changed his own appearance with Cherusil (or whatever was that spell to change looks) to look "bad" like Phantom Thief and inside he's still the "Cinnamon Roll" Iruma but acting like bad one because he's so angry.
I'm open for other explanation but Iruma going evil mode without a reason would simply make no sense.

Iruma went ahead while he was fighting Ameri and to be fair, Iruma has to his disposal enormous amounts of mana with his ring, so it would make sense for him to overpower him.
There's also possibility that who we are seeing isn't Iruma, but Bacheko in the looks of Iruma to "not be involved" in scala and still stop him from getting into human world?

You might think that appearing in a window is just aura farming, but it's tactically the right decision.
