Also, I really hope Raimu isn't another soldier for the Vigilante Corps, not because I don't want another teammate to join because I do, but moreso because he was forced into a position where he couldn't grow;

Mr. Ton essentially just housed and fed them, only to likely toss them away whenever the gang felt like it, and it wouldn't feel right to just use him again like that without allowing hime time to process and grow from that experience.

Care you ass? His mom is still alive. The first woman MC met was his mom iirc, and that man stole the money that means for her and didn't even deliver the letters

Not confirmed. The little girl the MC became attached to mentioned having an older brother and sister who isn't home at the moment. Doubt that mother sold her son.
This kind kf trope usually is connected with each other but i might be wrong. However, my point is still stand. Ain't no way a man that stole his money and hid the letters himself is care enough to him.

i see no sign of that from what ive read so far but if thats the case then fair enough. if he's lying and the kid was able to tell then my only criticism is the author should show that a bit better

from what i could tell the old guy is messed up mentally but his heart genuinely wanted to help. thats why:
when the kid wrote a letter indicating his want to betray the gang he didnt just outright kill him like the gang would want
he pressured them into going all-in with the gang so that they would be safer then trying to run from it
whenever he got a chance to kill one of the kids as crap started going down he never did
dont get me wrong, what he's done is terrible. but from my point of view his final arguments rung true, and just outright killing him without some-kind of "im doing this, you join me or you fight me" comes off as pretty messed-up
