I never get those who fall victim to this type of blackmail...just go to the police, technology today is not as anonymous as you may think. If the guy posts thr picture, the police can easily trace if it has been done from his phone.
Also, submitting and performing any form of sexual payments, just gives the blackmailed even more ammunition to blackmail you with.

For example, her blackmailer's original threat was to release a picture of the MC being humiliated. Now he has proof of her doing unregistered prostitution work.
Something that is highly illegal in Japan, not to mention much more dire for one's reputation that in Japan can even mean expulsion from school, Something that will ruin her prospects of ever living even a semi decent life.

Nah, this was all a consequence of her own actions. I don't know if you guys are familiar with stuff like mafia movies, but the archetype for the flawed protagonist, trying to turn a new leaf, getting caught up by his shady past and thus meeting his downfall, is very common. No matter how hard they try to get out, they always get dragged back in. This is literally what happened to Hanabitch. Just because she wanted to become a good person, doesn't mean all the people she pissed off will just forgive and forget about her. It was never about redemption...

It's a set up for a redemption, the previously evil character sacrificing themselves for the sake of the one they wronged, which in this case is Hanabi prostituting herself to protect the protagonist's image.

Besides this being a horrible situation, Hanabi all of a sudden becoming selfless to the point of becoming a prostitute is completely out of character. She was a completely self-centered character and would manipulate people to be in control of any situation. it would make more sense if she felt bad because she was caught, not because she genuinely felt at fault for what she did. It would've actually made more sense if she became the pimp and the guy was the prostitute. A better redemption for her would have been her learning empathy and understanding the pain she caused. This series becoming extremely dark seems out of place.
