The first fix I can think of that would make it better is adding a comma after "the people" so it reads "protect the people, to attack them".

"For a guard to attack the people they are sworn to protect" would work better here

well the beginning is fucked either way. But I can see an Otome with the premise starting at the knight order. You just need to make the (now) men more of the suave type instead of aggressive. the (now) FMC would need to be the low key horny one.
