Welp, that confirms the cold reality, that they do still have their canine lifespan.

That has sad implications for some of our main dogs of this story, cause IF the author plans to go full realistic with their lifespan, that means some of them may not be that far off from passing away soon.

Honestly I hope the author gives us some assurance that they do indeed have human lifespans now.

I don't think it confirms anything really - Hibari's mom never became human but stayed a regular dog. It's still possible the dogs gain human life spans when becoming human, they just start at the equivalent age they were as a dog

I was wondering when we would see regular dogs interacting with the dog people.
That was very nice even if it still doesn’t confirm our theories regarding their lifespans.

Glad Karen seems to have passed away gracefully, I’ve seen dogs during their last weeks in which their existence seems like suffering — coughing, choking, blindness. Cancer is unfortunately very common and usually takes away more than just the dog’s energy.

Oh, it was even worse than I imagined. No old dame or diva, just a dog. Loved and cherished by her owners. Goddamit, man. Why do dogs always make us love them so much and leave us so soon? It's unfair. They get to leave us feeling our love and we have to stay feeling our grief.

Thanks for the chapter, but man that really hurt.. :qq:
The bits about dogs putting on a strong face while hiding their illness, as well as accepting the pain of loss from their limited lifespans hit far too close to home. On page 11, you can see the normally stoic Hibari is shedding a tear for his mother like everyone else.

And then we'll do it again for the next one. And the one after that. They are part of our lives, but we are all of theirs, and that's why we need to be the best owners we can.
