I really think Takae its a hot takes choice all along, but given what we saw in the backstory stuff in the pre-serialization... Its clear the author kinda did her dirty and wrote her poorly. In that stuff its more clear she kinda fancies him prior to the Panties on the Roof incident, and was better laid out for this kinda setup.

So while this didn't go the way I hoped, it still wasn't as bad as I thought. No one has mentioned that Takae said she wouldn't of shown him her panties if she didn't care about him, which matches with what we learned in the spin-off manga.

Saotome is the kinda person who needs to be under watch for him to actually be left alone.
