As much as I think that Takae and Ushigome fucked up, I do give them some clemency, mostly because they are genuinely emotionally dumb enough to think it was a good idea.

Both of them never truly grew out of their old habits, because neither one was properly confronted about which part of them was bad. Both though that the issue was that they weren't serious enough, instead of the obvious issue of their behaviour simply being unacceptable.

As sad as it sounds, this is the logical conclusion of their arcs up to this point - getting serious about Hodaka, then fucking up because they hadn't understood what went wrong the first time. All I hope is that it will get a proper resolution.
