"way smarter than Saitama usually is, though it was of course followed up by the "smack an appliance to make it work right" gag"
This is not true. Saitama has consistently been one of the smartest characters in the series, especially in the social department. He always understands a character better than everyone else. I can cite his first public appearance after the meteor, where he was shamed by everyone, his monologue during the fight against Garou, his understanding of Amai Mask, don't even get me starts on his fight against tatsumaki, and now this moment. He is always the only one who truly understands people on a deeper level.
Saitama is basically the only adult in the room. Half of the characters are brain dead in their pursuit of power, half of the characters are too much into scheming. Saitama is just normal guy with common sense.

I think people cope hard with the fact that ONE isn't some infallible writing god by scapegoating Murata. It's one thing to recognize that manga fucked up a number of things, but it's another to direct hate towards a talented artist.
I don't think One is that much involved with writing. Granted his writing has decline as it has been obvious since the start of this arc - it is extremely long and there are too many revelations at once and there is too much exposition and "text" in the manga. Murata's version suffers from a different problem - due to the quality of art it loses the "simple" magic of the original, while due to redraws it loses the hype. Arguably One's version is suffering from that too - it took too long to reach the current events.

"Sure" 🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

No joke, I definetely think DK with King's videogame ability could defeat Saitama. Like when he destrous him with joke character, while Saitama uses OPs.

Also, seriously, cancel Murata's version already and adapt this version to anime.
This Is Peak!
