Classic case of "I can dish it out, but I can't take it" punk. I was hoping that Yamato would cold cock him, but I can see why the author didn't do that.

so that guy can smacktalk about others but has a crashout as soon as someone mentiones his laughter...great.
Honestly I definitely see the route this story is trying to take with this. Everyone has something they're insecure about, and how they deal with that insecurity varies by person. Kisaragi hides it from everyone, and this bully lashes out at anyone who says something about it.

He'll definitely be important in the future, with his own journey to truly accepting that part of himself.

Probably not a popular opinion here, but I do prefer his choice of not using violence. It's not a matter of how many people would be involved in a fight. He knows she would never approve getting into a fight even for defending her.
Thank you for the translation! :hearts:

I like it when I get to the end of a thread and don't have to say anything that's already been said.

I have no idea what you were expecting,it's a three versus one and all he wants is a better school life for another, getting expelled ain't going to help his case.
Did you ever read manga in your entire life?

Wait until the commenters who wanted a battle shounen fight scene see that she won't fawn all over him either and instead be mad at him for getting hurt for her sake next chapter. Bonus if he scrambles to apologise to her.
Nobody asked him to do that, so yeah, she'd be in the right. But going to confront someone like that and not being ready to throw hands is stupid territory, which he does prove ain't no brain cell in that head with this performance...

I have, which is why this is a good change from the usual bull crap.

Also, what is some 500~ message user asking that despite having a 2023 account?,do you exist merely to taunt others for liking change over the overused tropes?

If anything, you're the one lacking, considering this half-arsed attempt.

Bully's friends are decent enough people. They have his back, to the point of stopping him from beating up someone who isn't fighting back.
Their main flaw is being bad at choosing their friends.

Sorry, but talking to solve your differences only works if the other part is a half decent human being.

Bullies will percieve someone weaker as not worth hearing out, so violence IS the answer, no manner the consecuences.

A good punch or kick in the balls will send the proper message instead.

What's the Japanese problem with passive-aggressiveness? You're either passive or you're aggressive; instead of this weird, neurotic behavioral middle ground. It makes no sense to seek out and initiate conflict only to then mitigate the consequences and side effects you yourself caused. It's a very strange kind of cowardice in contemporary Japanese culture, an attempt to detach itself from any masculine trait of action and reaction. At the same time, it tries to compensate for this with tall, "bad boy" characters. Okay, this isn't a shounen. And, in fact, a 1 vs. 3 would be possible if it started with a physical conflict instead of a verbal one. But, regardless, every action will determine a reaction. And, to be honest, there would be a greater chance of the protagonist winning that fight due to the element of surprise and confusion. Imagine this: a completely unknown guy comes at you, punching, kicking, etc. Would you react immediately? And even if you did react, you wouldn't be emotionally involved because of the confusion. What the hell did I do to make a stranger come at me?

While his heart is in the right place, explaining her circumstances to a bunch of assholes is not going to change the fact that they are in fact assholes. The whole exchange ends up coming across as cheesy. I think progress is better made by having Kisaragi feel that it's okay to be who she is. That said, this interaction may play a role in that process, seeing as she witnessed it; maybe she'll confront these jerks next chapter and be able to move on from her trauma somewhat.
I agree, it kinda does. There is however something a bit different in that he didnt just start being violent. And the way that guy crashed out about his laugh and about "not being guilty" was kinda interesting. It kinda implies that he tries his best to convince himself that he did nothing wrong, but that it eats away at him.
