I am terminally dense. Back in college, this lady sitting next to me was showing off her tongue piercing to me very closely and moving it all around. I thought she was just someone being proud of their piercing and wanted to show off how cool it was. The scarring from the piercing was really bad and was focused on being polite. I was like, "Oh that's pretty awesome!" and continued on with my life.

Over the years during topics of tongue piercings, I told the story about the scarred up tongue to some other people as an example of how bad some piercings can get. A couple people pointed out to me what the real intention of the girl was, and I still didn't understand as I thought that was just a ridiculous interpretation, since in my viewpoint, there was no way that was the case. It was about 10 years later that I things finally clicked in my brain.

On a semi-related note, I was diagnosed this year with being on the spectrum for autism.

Oh I get it now... Well, shi like that happens. It's not like you're always supposed to get these cues when everyone else is running on a different wavelength; The girl was just speaking in a foreign language (you could say she was speaking in tongues lol sorry), so I don't think it's fair to deem you as dense here.

It's both. Well, I wouldn't call the former a joke. She is trying to tell him that it's okay because her lips didn't make indirect contact with hers while also taking the opportunity to show him what she can do with her throat.
